When was the last time you flew a kite? Where? What kind? Homemade? Store bought?

Today is Easter Sunday and it was kind of windy here in Illinois. The weather was perfect for kite flying, and then it occurred to me that I almost never see anyone flying kites anymore. Am I just not looking in the right places?? Tell us your kite stories

I went through a phase about 2 years ago where I actually built my own kite. I have this great book on kites, and it seemed like the thing to do. It took me awhile to make it, and then I took it to the beach and flew it.

It's amazing how many people will come up and chat with you when you're flying a kite.

I'd like to try another "model" and see what I can do. I just need to get other things done first.

I actually own several but I haven't flown them in sometime now. My fave is my box. I have modified it because the wind here in the Cali desert can get pretty intense. I have added a long tail section to it. I add or remove tail according to the strength of the wind. I use fishing line aswell because regular kite sting would just snap in a second.

i actually bought a really cool tye dye kite last march or april from a kite store and i've only got to use it once. i haven't had much time to fly it plus where i live now there are way too many trees

My brothers and that i used to fly kites some years in the past as quickly as we've been little....I look to remember we used to have them in Maine to fly interior the summertime....we could have flown them right here, too....i'm not sure approximately that, although. to answer your question, i'm not sure while the final time I flew a kite grow to be....yet i could wager it grow to be between 15 and 20 years in the past.

A few years ago. I cut the string cause I was too lazy to reel it back in.
