The veins of the hands and wrist are so visible because of the thin skin that lies just over them - the veins are basically between the skin and the tendons & bones. This is not the case on the palms, upper arms, or trunk, in most cases.

Some veins run very deep and some run just under the surface of the skin. Really, nothing more to it than that.

Because those veins that are visible are the ones on the uppermost part under the skin. But the majority are beneath the epidermis that they remain hidden to our naked eye.

the skin on your wrist is quite thin compared to other places on the body, obviously. and since the veins are so close to this thinner skin, you'll be able to see them better.

Because they are closer to the surface of the skin.
