And cut the rubbish about them nukeing Israel. We are not stupid enough to believe that they are stupid enough to want to do that. And as for him saying it would have been better if Israel did not exist is not the same as saying they want to wipe them out. Get the facts right.

These are the classic symptoms of a pathological fear.

Which is what this question is about.

What the American government really fears is that the oil producing countries like Iran will cease trading in US dollars. Iraq under Saddam Hussein proposed that Iraq change to selling oil in Euros. Great for the European economy - a disaster for the American economy.

At the moment all the oil producing countries have to have a stockpile of dollars - in effect this gives the USA a massive, permanent, interest free loan with which they can fund a huge military and give some of their citizens the benefits of a cheap energy economy.

The Iranians also expressed a desire to cease trading in petrodollars and switch to the Euro. That is the real reason for any proposed invasion of Iran. The rest, accusations of Iranian support for Islamic terrorists, Iran as a rogue state etc., is ideological posturing and propaganda. In politics always look for the economic reasons behind events.

It is a kind of fear, but remember that fear sells extremely well in American society. Odd, since few serious casualties inflicted by others have occur ed on US soil. Apart from 9/11, nothing can really be described as a foreign-orchestrated terrible event that happened at home.

Seems there's more fear of Iran than there ever was of the Soviet Union--and they had the capabilities.

So, it's got to be a fear of otherness. The Soviets were essentially ethnically like Europeans, really. Iranians are not, so I'm going to say race has a little to do with it.

I'm not sure if it's so much of a fear of Iran or a fear that Iran will try to nuke Israel. After all, when the mouthpiece for your country denies the holocaust and claims he wants to wipe Israel off the map, what are you supposed to believe?

There is no pathology in not wanting a megalomaniac with delusions of Armageddon to obtain nuclear weapons. The pathology is in failing to see the danger in this.

The pathalogical fear is fed to them by their leaders, by Fox News and by those with a vested interest in the arms and oil industries.

I think "pathological" is best applied to people who aren't being told that they are going to be killed or converted to someone else's religion.

If Iran stops doing that, and proves it by their actions, then I think you could label the United States as pathological in its fear.

Watch '300' I think you'll agree that's the best way to deal with Iran (and its ambassadors!). If the 15 Navy personnel had showed the same courage as the Spartans they'd have taken out thousands of those gooks before they went down. Then they'd be real heroes and the world would remember them with pride.
Iran and its tyrannical maniacal hordes represent a threat to democracy and freedom. Anyone who says otherwise is consigning our women and children to rape slavery, torture and death. We must resist this evil with all means available to us. Their president 'amonajihad' is worse than Hitler, the very epitome of evil with his godless creed. To 'nuke' Iran would be a beacon for world peace and send out a strong message to the rest of the Arab States of the evils of Islamic fundamentalism.
PS reported btw ..hope you get traced and flown off in orange pyjamas to the holiday camp at Guantanamo Bay! lol!

I`m not afraid they have to hijack a plane to drop a bomb and I do`nt think a bag of spent rocks is a bomb.If they had a missile I do`nt think they could throw it this far. They still throw things like cavemen and baboons.
