Nonsense. The Pope is a good man trying to do the best he can from his perspective. That I disagree does not change that.

The Pope along with millions of others believe that the war in Iraq is an immoral and unjust war.
Catholics use the rigorous consideration of the “just war” doctrine to determine if defense by military force is legitimate.
Offensive war is never justified.
All the following considerations must be true to justify war:
1. The damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain;
2. All other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective;
3. There must be serious prospects of success;
4. The use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated.
It has been argued the pre-war Iraq:
1. Was not inflicting lasting, grave and certain damage to the United States;
2. Could have been influenced by diplomatic and international sanctions.
It is argued now that:
3. There is not a serious prospect of success;
4. The use of arms has produced evils and disorders greater than the evil eliminated.
The "new" philosophy of the United States to launch wars to get them before they get us can even be argued as an offensive war which would not be justified.
With love in Christ.

It wasn't too long ago that the Pope was apologizing to the terrorists for basically calling them the dirt bags that they are.
Perhaps he has forgotten that they responded by killing a nun along with rioting and generally displaying their usual uncivilized and barbaric behavior.
He obviously feels that no one should stand up to these murdering thugs. Kind of idealistic, I would think.
Does he "hate America?" I don't know - but if he truly thinks that people should just submit to the demands of the Islamic radicals instead of resisting them - then perhaps I don't give a damn what other comments he may have.

The Pope is a coward and an embarrasment to Christians. In the old days any Pope worth his miter would have launched a Crusade against the Islamic hordes.
This guy is a joke.

Benedict ended his appearance by giving Easter greetings in dozens of languages, including Arabic and Hebrew, and giving the crowd his apostolic blessing.
Next, he heads to the papal summer residence at Castel Gandolfo, in the Alban Hills south of Rome, for a few days of rest.
What else would you expect him to do or say on Easter Sunday?

They would say the Pope is probably a terrorist sympathizer. They would say he is plotting against the USA. Bush claims to represent God but I am thinking otherwise. The Repubs think that brute force and war are the only ways to fix this. Violence only brings more violence. Ten more soldiers died today and for what. I hope Bush is happy....am not sure how he or Cheney sleep at night knowing how many people have given their lives because of lies and ego. I think global warming is hell heating up for him and Cheney.

its definitely unfortunate at the number of deaths of civilians and US troops.
but i dont know if anything positive came out of the attacks on the WTC, the attacks in Madrid in 2004, the bombings in London...the list goes on.
terrorism would continue even if we "minded our own business" and had stayed out of iraq.
besides, who cares what the pope thinks anyway. he's job is religion (not politics) so he should stick to what he knows best, dont ya think?

Let me explain, since you have a liberal mind and it doesn't work RIGHT. The Pope is saying "nothing positive" as in ethically, etc. nothing positive comes out of war. In a perfect world, which the Pope has to preach, wars wouldn't happen or be necessary. He's not on your side trust me. The Pope beleives in God for starters.

The Pope doesn't like war. If he thinks nothing positive came from ousting a leader who killed hundreds of thousands of people each year, that's his opinion.
