To me he looks like pure evil because of the way the music plays when he is in the scene and the way he fights and does what ever it takes to destroy the humans but not exactly everyone thinks that.I mean when Pyro said to Magneto in X2 'They say your the bad guy' and Magneto goes 'Is that what they say!' In way that makes him look like he was bored. I think he's pure evil but he thinks what he is trying to do is the right thing wich is MUTANT WORLD DOMINATION. Someone please tell me is he good or a madman?

I mean he would do anything to detroy the humans. he would even kill a mutant if they get in his way of stopping him. Like in X3 he saccrificed his old friend Charles Xavier to get rid if the humans because it would be the only way to make his dream come true wich is mutant world domination. Just so you people know Magneto moved the metal chess piece chess pice after being cured wich hinted that his powers were coming back in a fourth X-men movie wich is a few years away and I don't mean the spinoffs.

I would have to say he is a bad guy because he is willing to kill to get his way.

Magneto and Xavier--both close friends to the end--both wanted the same thing: Global acceptance of Mutants.
Xavier sought a diplomatic approach, one that called for Humans to open-mindedly understand Mutants; Magneto chose a more violent approach, one threatening Humans.
This pivotal point is where Xavier and Magneto split as each other's nemsis, instead of pure out-right enemies.
Magnetos allies and co-patriots were violent baddies....which Magneto had a time controlling, while getting his "message" out.
Magneto wasn't a killer---just don't press him to hurt you.

If you read the comics, you'd understand that he just wants a better place in the world for mutants. Unfortunately, he goes about doing so with violence. He is doing pretty much the same thing as Xavier, but not nearly as peacefully or quietly. The anti-mutant humans are the real bad guys.

he's 51% bad and 49% good.... He wouldn't hurt another mutant unless it was for his own good (i.e rogue in the first movie and the "pawns" in the second) and he is friends with Dr. X.... but then again he does want to wipe out man kind.... i think the movie creators along with the original comic book writers ment for magneto to be a bad guy, I suppose it all amtters which side your on.

mcsmith summed it up pretty good i think lol yea he means good in the sense that he wants there to be a good life without fear and danger of the human race excluding mutants. so basically he wants to eradicate the human race because of his anger towards them...xavier and the x-men want to better life for mutants but instead of erasing human life they want to try and build a relationship with the human race and live in harmony

I think he's a conflicted bad guy. He does have a conscience, and he still had a special place in his heart for Xavier.
It was BECAUSE of his experience in the concentration camps that he no longer trusted humans. He was miguided, and definitely a villian, but a sympathetic one. Wishy washy enough for you? :)

undesirable guy, yet with a reasonable reason: prejudice could desire to be fought lower back against. although, there does exist an intense and Magneto takes his reason to the main deadly intense of risky extremes, making him undesirable.

If you get a hold of any X-MEN comics you will find he is bad. He is also bad in the movies. He only worked with the X-MEN to help his gain.
