IF you have a cold, stay home so your don't give the cold to others. Colds are usually caused by viruses, which have to burn themselves out of the body and do not respond to antibiotics.
Get yourself some saline spray at the pharmacy and spray your nose three or four times a day after you blow it. The saline keeps the nose moist and that helps that body to fight infections. Chicken soup has been proven by the AMA to help reduce the symptoms of the cold, for the moist heat and for the liquid. It is very important when you have a cold to increase the amount of fluid you consume.
If you need something for the aches and pains or to control the nasal drainage, ask the pharmacist. Especially if you are on ANY prescription medications.
The very best advise with a cold is get in bed and spend the next three days trying to sleep between drinking water, going potty, and staying away from others.

I just got over a bad cold that lasted almost two weeks. I lived on alka seltzer cold plus, robitussin cough syrup DM, and a throat spray for the sore throat. Beyond that I used honey and lemon, chicken soup, vitamins , lots of carbs for comfort, and plenty of sleep. Hope you feel better soon.

Get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids. If you are suffering from sneezing, itchy eyes or are congested, take over the counter medication.
