Better yet, why not have a 'National Native Amercian History Month'! We have a 'National Black History Month', so could someone claim this to be discrimination?

First off, many of you that have already answered seem to be taking offense to this question. Why is that? Secondly, Native American Heritage Month isn't quite the same as 'history month'. Show/prove to me a group of people that were treated worse than the original Americans. If it weren't for the Indians, the settlers would have died here. Yet, they were treated very badly, much worse than any other race that came over. They were killed, beaten, raped, driven from their land, just so those that decided to come over here could take what they had worked so hard for. Lastly, like most others, I'm fed up with people thinking they are owed something by our government, when they have no 'true' bloodline to the Native Americans.

There's no single month dedicated to honoring white people's contributions to history. Just because we're living in a country that was predominantly white for hundreds of years doesn't mean that white people have been given a month of celebration. The other 11 months are spent discussing American historical figures and events, most of whom by happenstance are white. So, I get your point and I agree with you. I think it just reflects this historical guilt we all have. The truth is that until recently, important black figures had been left out of most public school history books. Now that that's changing, it's harder to argue that deprivation necessitates a black history month. All the same, I don't mind black history month, but it'd be cool if we didn't have to divide human beings along racial lines. I'd rather honor a human being for the important contributions he or she made rather than see the person's worth only as a part of a sub-group.

First of all do some research before you start accusing, theres an Asian Pacific American Month, which is celebrated in may, and made official in 1990, October is National Italian American heritage month, November is Native american heritage month, September 15 to October 15 is Hispanic month. How are black people discriminating against you when these decisions are made by the government which is mostly white.

"Why is there not a 'National White History Month'?"

Nobody needs one.

"Better yet, why not have a 'National Native Amercian History Month'! We have a 'National Black History Month', so could someone claim this to be discrimination?"

Making a claim doesn't make it true.

i completely agree with u but if we have a white history month or even a native American history month it would be considered by the black community(which out number us) racism and the reason we have a black history month is because the white people want to make up for past sufferings which i personally think is stupid it is anti-racism.

For the most part, blacks in the US share a fairly common history. Whites, on the other hand, can have a wide diversity of histories and cultures. Irish, British, Ukranian, Greek, Sweedish, French... all came to the US with different cultural baggage, under different situations or reasons. Whose 'white' history do we celebrate?

Our history has been pretty much a national white history for all of the months. Native Americans certainly deserve their own history month. Let's let Americans learn about our bloody past. Turns out what we are doing in Iraq is not new to us.

Every day of every year is white history and privilege month. It's not discrimination fool unless the group has been left out to start with.
Maybe you are too young to remember but we were never taught anything about black people and I can remember when there were no blacks in television and you do know they were not allowed an education for centuries! Maybe we should go back to that so you "whites" don't ever have to be just and society can go back to being for whites only.
You need to study about civil rights and how they had to fight just to be treated like human beings. Jeez you are soooo stupid!

why? I mean we get January , March, April, May, June, July(we celebrate independence), August, September, October, November and December we get 11 months, July is the best to have it, so that's probably what month is associated with white history month
