I will be cynical here and say the US..perhaps Russia..
Millions of russians/Germans/Chinese/Japanese/Poles..not to mention Jews/gays/gypsies etc...died during WWII.
the reason I picked the US is because we never really sustained any major league damage..our cities were never bombed or leveled..our biggest loss was pearl habor
for a good portion of the time we remained on the sideline..we mostly sent supplies and weapons...of all the countries,, the US had one of the lower death rates in the war.
and at the end of the war, the us emerged as a world leader
I also chose russia..despite doing a majority of the fighting against the nazis..and loseing like 12 millions people...
the soviet union gobbled up great portions of the land unchecked and emerged as one of the three great powers of the world

The allies with Russia bearing the brunt of the dying. As to Italy. They were actually both an ally and axis power. They started out under Mussolini as an axis, but when he was overthrown, they joined in with the Allies.

No one did. Who wins in a war? There is just a bunch of death and destruction; in a sense we were all losers. If you must have a winner, though, the axis capitulated and the allies came out victorious. Italy surrendered first, then Germany, and finally Japan.

the allied powers, mainly the us, russia, great britain, france, italy (after 1943) and many other countries.
but everyone knows that already, right?
tonismaster...italy was part of the axis alliance, but later joined the allied powers in 1943 (you know, the numbers i typed in parenthesis behind italy) after mussolini was forced out of power and replaced by the badoglio government. so yes, italy was a part of the allied victory in 1945.
