People need to make up their minds. As it stands America is damned if they do, and damned if they don't!

That's a good question. The answer probably is that the US hardly ever intervenes very quickly.....and the reason we have in Afghanistan and in Iraq has to do with the terrorists.. who hit us first......Bush was genuinely afraid of what Saddam might do next...and even though it is proclaimed there were no chemical weapons, there is a lot of evidence that they were moved (we know many people were killed with them) and that it is possible they are in Syria....but our media ignores anything they don't want to hear.....
Contrary to the media...we have always been reluctant to intervene...even when we probably should do it .....there are individual groups (mostly of Christians) that are doing some amazing things on their own....like one group I know freeing 23,000 slaves...and doing it with donations from Americans...and they keep on doing it. Others help wherever they can...on their own...and do help a lot.
I think we are the superpower that cares....but right now we are in a real mess because we stayed to help Iraq build their own democracy...which I don't think one country can do for another. We just have idealistic people who think everyone should have the same freedom we do. They forget that we fought, bled and died to get it...and the Iraqui people will have to do the same if they really want it....we can't do it for them.
We are trying to get the terrorists....but how do you kill terrorists when you can't see who they are?
Probably too...we have a lot of areas already we are trying to deal with. I am proud of our troops, who willingly put their lives on the line to help others...my grandson is a new gung ho Marine, raring to go....they are wonderful Americans!

Have you ever heard of the Monroe Doctrine? It is the policy of the USA to prevent intervention of Europe into the affairs in north or south America. Any such action would be a matter of war with the United States.
Africa has a similar policy which is administrated by the African Union. The AU is responsible for policing its member nations. When the US went into Somalia, that was not an "intervention" but rather an act of war. As long as the AU peacekeepers with UN support can monitor the situation in Darfur, that is better than the US starting yet a third simultaneous war.

Because we have "President Bush" who cares for oil in Iraq. Write him a letter and let him know whats going on over there in Sudan and see if he cares. If the country doesn't have anything for him to gain from then he says screw them all. Think about the tornadoes that hit he went to the states that supported him but looked over alot of others states. That politics all day everyday at work. Face the facts!!!!
By the way if you read everyones answer to this question they are about (1) oil and (2) How the country can benefit the U.S. We may have a point here. Maybe we need to go to the White House seems as though we are all on ONE ACORD!!!

As others have stated: No national intrests in Darfur. But, if you are an American, you are free to do all you can to help them out. If it is an issue that you really care about, don't wait for the government to do something. Hop on a plane, head over there, and pitch in.

We are doing what we can, but let's not set-back and have our Country to do all the work.
I'm certainly for the people of Sudan & have mentioned it numerous times.
We have troops already in Sudan trying to assist the government in kicking the Islamic Militas out of this Country. We have supplied gun control from one of our carriers along with missiles.
Keep in mind at one time this country was a haven for Osama b. Laden and the people who are trying to kill every Sudanese is affilated with Al-Quada, Osama's group.

The reason for that is that if the US goes to Sudan, the government will not benefit from it in any way. The genocide happening right now in darfur isn't terrorism, it's a genocide. In iraq, we can actually get oil from it. in sudan, we can't get any economic benefits from it. thus, the US will not get involved. it's really messed up, but that's the way government works. some of the things we do are morally wrong, but if they benefit us, then it's ok. hope that answers your question.

Without seeming like a completely inhuman and heartless individual, don't you think our "intervening" in the affairs of other countries has gotten us in enough trouble? The entire reason we are at war with the al-Qaeda/Taliban/Terrorists now if for our interference in Islamic countries of the middle east to begin with...one war not enough for you? Seriously. The US needs to figure out how its going to get out of its present mess before it even thinks about asking for another one.

They don't have any resources that we want, so why would our government care what's going on there? Don't be fooled that we actually care at all about the Iraqi people, but they do have a resource that is very useful to us, if it wasn't for oil (and the fact that Bush wanted to divert attention away from the fact that he could not find Bin Laden) I really doubt our soldiers would be dying everyday in this so called "war against terrorism"
