Democrats are convinced because they won the votes of half of the 25% who voted, they have a mandate. They were elected to stop the war and to change course. The President has said he will veto any bill with a timetable for withdrawal.

If the democrats position was so right, it was so clearly the right position, why do they not have the votes necessary to override a Bush veto? Why not impeach Bush? Why not do anything but make are country weaker and the terrorists stronger???

The democrats are playing politics with the war. Using our soldiers, our nations security, our kids future for political gain.

Imagine if this country had stayed united. The war would be over.

Any solution is better than no solution - do nothing and pull out is not an option. Explain that democrats.

It's true, they do have a mandate. I wish every politician who was elected to office took it as a mandate to do AS THE PEOPLE WANT, NOT vote their conscience.

President Bush also has a mandate, and has followed it. I respect that. We won because the people were concerned about balance. Unfortunately, they confuse socialist/seditious/liberal with Democrat.

I wish that weren't so. Some of us are still Americans first, Democrats second.

I hope no group is unstoppable in the U.S.

Don't you?

I'm willing to read your vent but to blame this war on the democrats is ludicrous. This war has been going on for over four years. You won't be able to convince many that "The democrats are playing politics with the war. Using our soldiers, our nations security, our kids future for political gain. Imagine if this country had stayed united. The war would be over." Stay United? This war is evil and was started with lies and faulty intelligence. I'm not about to support an administration or a president who takes war as lightly as it's been taken.
Hopefully the war will end soon but it sure as hell isn't going to end with bush in office.

The Democrats only have the assistance of main stream media and not the support of the majority of Americans. If the success of some dems in the last elections was because of the war ; Why did NastyPelousy have to buy votes with pork to pass a bill with timetables? Americans want to win this war!

Over 60% of Americans believe that we should set a timetable for leaving Iraq or leave immediately. So the Dems are correct that they have a mandate for getting our troops out of Iraq. I am a moderate and since only 20 to 25% of Americans consider themselves liberal, many moderates also want us to get out of Iraq. The invasion of Iraq was one of the worst decisions ever by an American president, and Bush is arguably the worst president in American history.

What it comes down to is that both sides stand for nothing, and against each other. That is not the way a successful country is run. The only time the parties should be that dead set against each other is when it's time to run for office. Other than that they should try to work together, because theoretically, even beyond being Democrats or Republicans, they should be Americans.

Your country stayed united over Vietnam for years, didn't do any good. If you install puppet governments under false pretenses against the will of the people who live in these countries that you seek to exploit you will always lose. Understandably they are prepared to lose 100 men to every one of yours and you have been sold fairy tales that have less basis in fact than the stories their governments tell them. Being frightened of make believe terrorists is hardly courageous, your leaders had the power to protect you but they led you into this mess by not doing so intentionally. Motive: 100 years of cheap oil if you install puppet regimes in the Middle East and control the world's oil market.

"Any solution is better than no solution..."

Exactly. And what is Bush's plan again? "Stay the course" which in translation means "do nothing". Come up with nothing. Send more troops to accomplish nothing new.

Pulling out is doing something. It's more than anything Bush has to offer.

Again I ask, what is Bush's plan? What are his stated goals and objectives. Practical, doable goals and objectives, not any more of this vague, flowery, pie-in-the-sky rhetoric about "freedom" and "good vs. evil." We live in the real world that requires real world solutions not faith in the magical power of freedom making things magically ok.

Americans would not like the idea of liberals not funding the Americans troops and the only real way is to cut the funds, but when you have people implying that the troops would be stranded which we know isn't true it creates a situation that is unacceptable

Democrats will for sure win the presidency, maybe not for how they show themselves to the people, but because the disastrous outcome obtained by the current administration.

One thing is true. "Republicans won't get a third period"
