I found the father/husband to be so inspiring, as was the whole movie.

Again, I am simply nonplussed by the amount of incorrect information spewed freely as if it were fact...what is this, anyway? Wikipedia? Sheesh!

The movie is NOT based upon a book. The screenplay was written by the film's director (and main character Guido).

I haven't watched this movie in years, but I remember being moved to tears by it. It left me with the same kind of impression that "Pay It Forward" left on me. In other words, "It was a great movie, and very well done. I never want to see it again."

I think Guido's love for Giosue is very illustrative of God's love for us.

Yes, I saw the movie and thought it was great as many movies with subtitles tend to be, I don't know if it was based on a book but, "Night" by Elie Wiesel is similar and very compelling. It follows a father and son as they go through concentration camps but with a totally different view point than, "Life is Beautiful."

Actually, the film wasn't based on a novel. It was written as a screenplay by the director, Roberto Benigni, and Vincenzo Cerami. You can buy the screenplay in book form from Amazon.com, but it isn't technically a novel.

It is an amazing film, however!
