nope, they are not fertilized. And, with them being so cold, what little embryo there would be would not be viable.. blood spots also do not indicate fertilization.
Here is a great link that tells ya all about it:

post reply: most eggs at large grocery stores are way too old to have viable embryos. Here is where most commercial eggs come from and also why I only buy eggs from people I know and hens I know are healthy. Scary.

"However, if they have been refrigerated, the embryo has been killed"
Not so. I have kept fertilised eggs in the fridge for a week then put them under a broody hen. They have a successful hatching every time. If you leave them too long in the fridge they will die but it takes some time. Hens lay their eggs at one per day and don't start brooding until the complete clutch has been laid. This means that the first laid egg could be two weeks old and stone cold quite naturally before the hen starts the incubation process. It will still hatch with the others.

It is true that most supermarket eggs are not fertile, though some places sell fertile eggs. However, if they have been refrigerated, the embryo has been killed, so it still wouldn't work. You might get a fertile egg from a farm.

Actually hens never need to even see a rooster to lay eggs. It's a natural process, shedding unfertilized eggs. Go to a pet store that sells birds and ask about finches, parakeets, lovebirds, etc. laying eggs with no males around, they'll tell you it happens all the time. Ask someone who keeps reptiles, my bullsnake hasn't been around a male since she was a hatchling, about 6 years ago, she laid 15 eggs last year. Turtles, alligators and lizards do this as well. Even mammals do it, your dog or cat going into heat or a woman having her period, all she's doing is shedding unfertilized eggs.

no the egg does not have an embryo in it, the processs by which the big egg sellers make eggs is by having many hens in a coop, and 1 rooster, as long as there is a rooster around the hens will all lay eggs, if the rooster cant get tothe hen to do his "thing" the chicken will lay an egg without any fertilization occuring, meaning no embryo.
