I was given a very inexpensive set from China last year that were absolutely super-zip ... and I am looking for something similar made here in the West ... why were they super-zip ? (pardon me!!!) ... oh, because they were all sort of pastel and faint in colour but beautiful ... the way they all worked together ... for example there was no plain blue, just an indigo and a pale turquoise that were just perfect ...and two beautiful violets, nothing abrasive, just lovely colours ... brick, and pale greens, dark red and pink ...... someone in China must have "colour theory" down pat ...
I was rocked!

Of course, I should not be surprised ... their painting tradition is centuries old.

Thank you

Although sometimes using expensive prismacolors may help blending and shading, Its would be neat to see what the experience artist could do with a Crayola pencil.
All in all I simply like using Crayola. They aren't soft and don't break easily, making it convenient and functional.
Its the talent, not the material.

I was in love with Prismacolors the moment I made a first mark with one of them. The colours are very rich and smooth, and you never get nasty scratchy bits in the tip.

They're far from inexpensive though... I love how my pencil set costed more than my entire wardrobe. x3

Your very inexpensive set of pencils are more than likely full of very harmfull raw materials. Id be careful if they are water soluable. Anyway, thats by the by.
I'd recommend Karisma pencils by Berol.Theyre not cheap but you can buy in sets or individually.

Those sound wonderful. I love colored pencil but hate the cheap ones they have here. I use Prismacolor - they are nice and blendable with a huge variety of colors. You can get them at any art suppy store or craft store OR online at dickblick.com
