well we found a spot that we thought didnt have many rocks. well if we wudda dug down a lil deeper we wud have found a rock kingdom. well we buried a magnolia. and now its starting to die. the roots are coming up because too many rocks are in the way for it to grow so it comes up. wat shud we do? just leave it be or shud we undig it and plant it somewhere else?

Have you tried building up the soil instead of digging down into the rocks? A raised bed will give better drainage, and more room for the roots to expand. You could use the rocks of the area to surround the raised bed for a natural look.
Also by digging down to the rocks, that may be water impervious, your plant could be drowning. Try somewhere else, or be prepared to loose the tree.
Happy gardening!

Take it out and plant it somewhere else the roots cant attach to anything which is why it is dieing. Unless you havnt watered it. You could always hope n pray and use a little miracle grow on it. instead of following the directions where it says every 4 to 6 weeks water it daily by hand with 2 gal of water and a teaspoon of miracle grow in that water as well try that for a few more weeks. There may be alot of rocks but your digging through the dirt. so the roots should be able to attach to something.

A raised bed is a wonderful idea ,this will be well worth the effort,it will give your plant new soil & space as well ,where it can literally spread its roots ,also you will be saved the effort of trying to prepare a workable pit among such unforgiving soil conditions.Once you have a raised bed the best thing for your magnolia tree is to transplant into this bed ,remember this will be the second time it is being planted,so care will be needed in watering till it has established itself,I hope it is the ideal season for this, where you live.

You should have at least 6to8 inches of hole below the roots and around the sides of the roots so you can mix peat moss and manure together and then fill around the tree to where the stem of the tree comes out of the root system(ball).

If you don't have this much room, I would transplant it. Be sure to fertilize it and keep it moist, if you just planted it.
