If I had to choose one director to direct a movie from each of the genres (action, comedy, drama, etc) I would have it be Steven Speilberg. No one else has proven themselves as a capable of a diretor as Speilberg has. He has directed an array of different movie, most of which become "classics". He has a great taste of moving the script to the screen and making it visually entertaining, or moving depending on the movie. I have never seen a movie of his that I have not liked. Sure Coppola had The Godfather Trilogy, and Lucas had Star Wars, but there is one name that keeps on coming up year after year, Speilberg. He is by far the greatest director of all time.
