My breasts are very much different in size. My left one is very small and petite and nicely shaped, while my right one is larger and more noticable? I dont know whether to get the surgery to fix the problem ( its covered under insurance because its considered a deformity), or to just deal with it. Many people say its noticible, but then many people say its not. It makes me very self concious when I wear semi- revealing shirts and bathing suits? I wouldn't go to a plastic surgeon because they seem to like to mess up alot and I would hate to wind up looking like Tara Reid. I would have the procedure done by a breast reconstruction specialist at my hospital. Any suggestions?

I forgot to mention that if I did decided to have the surgery,I would opt for a reduction. My small breast is a perfect size B, and my large one is almost a D. I am 5'1 and around 120 lbs andlarge breasts would look comedic on such a small body. THANKS!

the question is, does it bother you? If it does and you can get it done, then do so. There is no reason to go thru life feeling self conscious, there is more to life than that, go for it girl.

Let's have some clarity.

1. Breast reconstruction is normally undertaken to rebuild lost breasts - which is not your case.

2. Your goal is to have a balanced aesthetic contour - right!

3. You are 51.

4. Breast augmentation of the smaller breast will now look awkward.

The best solution seems to be breast reduction, technically, "REDUCTION MAMMOPLASTY". The reason that the current body contours make you self conscious are sufficient enough to opt for the surgical procedure. at least you will be at peace within your own self and also confident about your looks after the corrective surgery.

You can think about it.

Your condition is not that unusual. Does it bother you that much? Sometimes others don't see the flaws until we point them out. It's probably not as obvious as you think. If it really bothers you though, it can be surgically corrected. Bear in mind that breast reduction can be a painful surgery. Get a doctor who is very reputable.

I take it that you have asked the surgeon questions like will there be any difference in feel, can I nurse, etc? I think that if it bothers you have it done. But first check out the surgeons reputation and errors at the AMA to make sure you are getting someone reliable.

I think I'd have breast reduction for the larger breast...just be sure to research your specialist thoroughly and check his/her credentials. You can always see if he/she has other patients who have had surgery that might be willing to speak with you about their experience with that particular doctor. Good luck!

If it truly bothers you, then have surgery. Just like the other response, don't go through life being self concious if you can change it!
