I am a sixteen year old in grade eleven, and I think that you are supposed to be in school to learn and to get an education. But, how do you deal with people who don't think that way? I have about 5 guys in each class who are always drunk on weekends and they're about as smart as a shoebox. They constantly interupt the teacher and so I don't get half of the lesson; these kids don't get in trouble. How do I deal with this? Please help!

talk to a counselor or someone. its not your fault if you don't get half of the lesson. its their fault for being disruptive and the teacher wouldn't be able to continue her lessons.

Go to your guidance councilor and ask for a independent home study program. All three of my grandsons are in that. They meet with the instructor twice a week to receive assignments and take the test. The work is done at home, on their own. They are all three in High School. The oldest one has been in the program three years, and graduating soon, the other two started last year.

If you can, go up into an honors/AP class next year. There's a ton of people in the grade below me that annoy the heck out of me, but their too immature to handle an honors class. My solution: any class that I could possibly have with any of them, I'm taking as an honors class (which for me is math and science because those classes are 11-12 - me being one of the seniors). If you do that, you're guaranteed to not have that issue with them next year.

Ignore them, Your prerogative is to study, so do that. How are the other students coping with the problem of these 5 students.? This will happen in later life too. You can't keep worrying about it. You learn to concentrate on your studies and whatever lessons are unfinished can be completed by you at home. Anything you don't understand, can be explained by the teacher before or after school.

I understand your situation. Sometimes it is challenging to overcome distractions no matter how hard we try to concentrate. Is there any way you can sit at the front of the classroom? They say that students who sit at the front retain more of the info, anyway. I would also suggest speaking to your teacher, perhaps he/she can give you extra help after school. I am sure whoever is teaching your class would be relieved and motivated to know there's at least one student there (YOU) who is trying to benefit from what they are teaching.

Don't sign up for these classes. If you are a serious student you should take academic classes. The discipline is usually better. Also ask the guidance counselor about teachers that have good classroom managment.

School doesnt provide education to begin with, so what does it matter?

Mark Twain:"I've never let my school interfere with my education"

If you somehow deem school an important aspect of learning, theres nothing you can do about fellow peers interrupting, simply feel relief at the fact they are probably idiots, and will remain idiots, where as you will succeed.

P.S. I like the shoebox analogy.

Unfortunately you just have to deal with it. High school will be over soon enough and you will be onto bigger and better things. Keep focused on what you want out of life and out of your education. Don't worry about them. We do need people like them in society. Who else would cook our french fries?

you do the best you can... if you feel you missed half the class go to the teacher afterwards and see if you missed anything because of the obnoxious boys.. I'm sure she will know what you are talking about... THEENNNNNN you graduate, go to college and make something of yourself all the while knowing that those drunk boys are probably still drunk, in jail or dead... Good for you for wanting to make something of yourself.

Take all advanced and AP courses. I knew they were there somewhere, but I didn't run into those kids all 4 years of high school thanks to honors and AP. They wouldn't bother taking those.
