I'm decent in math (A in algebra & trig, B in calc) and have a 3.6. I work hard. Accounting is the only thing I'm interested in.

Generally, how hard is getting the degree?

It's not just knowing math... you have to know how to APPLY it... it involves a lot of critical thinking.

I'm taking Financial Accounting right now.

And it's not that easy. And I LIKE math....

More than half the people in my class dropped out already...

I think if you would like to try Accounting, go for it.
It's worth a shot.

I just wanted to share my experience.

Well, I am working toward my Accounting degree at the moment and I have taken Acct I and II. Accounting I is easy, but you really have to learn the basics and drill it into your head. Accounting II gets difficult when you get to stocks, bonds, and the statement of cash flows. If you form a study group or have an accountant in your family, you will do fine. My aunt is an accountant so she helps me a lot, and I turn to my classmates quite often for guidance. But if you have worked in the field, and you like numbers go for Accounting. It really does not have anything to do with algebra, although I also got A's in my algebra classes.

It is not that hard, my degree is in Law and Accounting. I like accounting as there is a definate answer, not like law or medicine. I think you would do well if you have the interest. I made a real good living at it ,and was able to work in different countries, now work in a different area but still enjoy taxes and investment.

Its not hard if you work hard and focus on your classes. The hardest year is your Junior Year when you have to take Intermediate Accounting 1 and 2. These are your core classes and the most difficult because they require a lot of work.

I am an accountant. My firm hasn't been very impressed with what students leave college with when they do a degree in accounting. It's grossly inferior to doing proper accountancy qual while training. So I'd suggest you find out how your degree would be respected in your country, and whether it would be better to do english / maths / law at college and then do accountancy.
