Yes.
+ War +
Catholics uses the rigorous consideration of "just war" doctrine to determine if defense by military force is legitimate.
Offensive war is never justified.
All the following considerations must be true to justify war:
1. The damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain;
2. All other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective;
3. There must be serious prospects of success;
4. The use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated.
It has been argued the pre-war Iraq:
1. Was not inflicting lasting, grave and certain damage to the United States;
2. Could have been influenced by diplomatic and international sanctions.
It is argued now that:
3. There is not a serious prospect of success;
4. The use of arms has produced evils and disorders greater than the evil eliminated.
The "new" philosophy of the United States to launch wars to get them before they get us can even be argued as an offensive war which would not be justified.

+ The Pope +
The Pope does not claim any more divinity than that to which you and I have. The presence of an immortal soul.
The Pope does not claim any more close conversaions with God than you or I do in our everyday prayer.
John 21:15-17 states:
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."
He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep."
He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep.
Matthew 16:17-19 states:
Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
The Catholic Church believes the Lord made Simon alone, whom he named Peter, the "rock" of his Church. He gave him the keys of his Church and instituted him shepherd of the whole flock.
The Pope is the senior pastor of 1.1 billion Catholics, the direct successor of Simon Peter.
The Pope’s main roles include teaching, sanctifying, and governing.

trust what you wish, yet my analyzing of non secular heritage factors out very obviously to me that the papacy is a political corporation with an similar purpose as any political team. Get and carry as a lot means as you could. also, popes have not, traditionally, shown they are the oracles of god they declare to be both. Popes haven't any compunction in any respect to call for the slaughter of innocents so long because it advantages the church on the means of the papacy. I position fairly no more advantageous weight in this guy's opinion through position he holds. he's only a guy and he has an opinion. regrettably, many contained in the global will supply him help no matter if he's nice or no longer, because he's the pope. Why, if he had stated that u . s . of america could nuke Iraq, human beings in his church could for the most area say hooray, the pope has spoken so it must be the right element to do. faith has murdered and tortured more advantageous innocents contained in the heritage of the global than the different unmarried element. And that contains all religions via ways. i'm really no longer an athiest or an agnostic...yet I discovered a lengthy time period in the past that religions can sway opinion depending upon the emotional tie one has with the religion. The christian fundamentalist do it also. that's noticeably a lot mind washing (with few exceptions)...continuously has been and continuously will be.

I think invading Iraq was a huge mistake, but I certainly don't feel like I need to cite the Pope's opinion on the subject as a means of propping up my own opinion. For all the pomp and hype that surrounds the Pope, he's just a man. He isn't divine, and he doesn't talk to God a bit more than I do. He thinks he does.

The pope sits in a well financed ivory tower and has no practical answers to real problems. Muslims do not respect the pope and could not care less what he says. He is not relevant to anything happening in Iraq now nor anything that happened in Iraq under Saddam. The pope's proclamation about the ills of Africa being entirely caused by other nations is ridiculous. The problems in Africa are a result of thousands of years of war and failures in the various governments on that continent. The pope should stick to getting high on incense.

I am going to wonder about his reasoning and close talks with God...perhaps because he,the pope,is a commander in chief of an Army ..The Swiss Guard.One of the oldest most capably trained commando force in the world.Official Vatican records cannot be viewed,(why) but unofficial releases state that per soldier training money for the Guard is top 3 in the world.Also they,the vatican officials,still fly military banners in which they awarded themselves for the Crusades...hypocracy my be what the church is built on not "the rock on which ....."

Of course i agree, these people have been fighting for thousands of years. Just the US military going in and fighting them wont help I dont beleive. We have to do it but I dont see it being the answer. these people were born fighting and are not afrade to die for what they believe in. They dont value their life they way most peolpe do. Its their colture. Once the US and other forces leave, things will be back the same. Remember at one time the US supported Saddam.

The Pope does not claim divinity, and this was not an infallible statement. If he said abortion was murder and should be illegal, and homosexual sex was a sin, would you agree?
