In ANY service job people think they can take their anger out on you . Waiters, police officers, teachers, postal worker, etc. You can stand up to them in a professional way. It will embarrass most people to be spoken to in a confident, professional way after they've been rude. Don't let it get you down if you do then you stoop to their level. Just be you and don't put too much thought into this or you'll become cynical.

When you go into a department store you have to expect an employee to know how to help you. You can't come up to a customer and talk to them without any confidence. People see that. I had been in sales for years, today's employers throw their employee's into their job without training them. when I go into a store and I ask for help I expect that employee or associate to know their job. If they don't I will go elsewhere. Customer service is important and remember the customer is always right. So be as sickly nice as you can possibly be and know place and your job. You will get a lot of respect from your customers this way. If you are not polite or pleasant or anything don't expect customers to be nice, because they won't. Why, because they don't care. You are getting paid to know what they want.

Were you that little teenage punk at Verizon I had to yell at the other day? I'd rather talk to someone actually old enough to be out of high school when I go in for customer service. And everything I've bought lately is garbage in there. My last phone broke down like every 3 months. They replaced it but it's a hassle to drive down there, wait in line, and have to put all my info/contacts back into the new phone every time.

I dont understand why employees workin stores and treat the customers like garbage and talk to them like their dirt--lower than dirt...these employees think that they can bully the customers and talk to them anyway....

I agree, working w/the public is hard. I had a guy that wanted a bolt and nut (I work in a hardware store) and I spent about 10 minutes w/him helping him find it and he asked how much it was and I said "the bolt is $1.32 and the nut is $.34" he said he would buy it somewhere else. I thought, why did you waste my time you cheapster.

I'll feel your pain because I work at a bar, and holiday weekends always bring out the bad drunks.
My headache that was caused by jerkoffs is so bad that my hair actually hurts today.
I signed up to pour the friggin' beers, not be a bouncer.
Woe is me :(
And I hope you week improves.

I have a theory that everyone should have to work in retail for 1-2 years of their life. That way they would be nicer customers, especially at Christmas. Whattayathink?

Yes I do have something I'd like to vent about, why can't people spell anymore. Everything is fragmented and hard to understand.
