Some people are telling me that it would not be "appropriate" for Barbie to have nipples....well why not Ken?

Good question! Perhaps they don't put nipples on Ken because if Ken had them and Barbie didn't have any, little girls just might grow up thinking there was something wrong with them.
If Barbie had nipples she would then be considered a sexual being, therefore putting her at risk of being kidnapped from her owner to be fantasized about.
Then again if both of the dolls were made with a darkened pigment where the nipples should be, both Ken and Barbie would be considered sexual beings only because the dolls are 'grown up' and not childlike.

Ken doesn't have nipples because he got in a freak accident and remained nippleless. Maybe Mattel realized that men really don't need nipples, so they made him...that way.

Well if Barbie can't be anatomically correct, maybe Ken can't be either? Or the designer was afraid it would look like two giant moles taking over his chest.

they should make the barbie dolls clothes sewed to the barbie were kids can't take them off
imagine walking in your 4 year old cousins room with a 3 foot naked barbie doll.
