It's true that to err is human, because God is the only being that never makes mistakes. God is perfect. Humans aren't perfect. If humans were perfect, there would be no need for God.

That might depend on the extent of the error, or it's possible repetitiveness from the person who's made the mistakes. I definitely believe that "To err is human", and "To forgive is Devinne".
That said, if someone just uses the phrase, in hopes to pass on the consequences, then they will usually show their true colors sooner than later. I believe in giving the benefit of the doubt, until someone shows me otherwise. If there is no remorse, or change in actions, so as not to repeat the "mistakes", then you can likely assume they are mere excuses for their behavior.
Another truth.....Actions speak louder than words!
