Only liberals think about things in this manner. If the guy running is as black as Hillary Clinton's heart but is conservative and will say it like it is I will vote for him or her.

hi there I believed in our government but sometimes I just do not want to vote ever again .my reasons are they or some take their position for granted steal from us. they lie to get the votes and once in office it's a whole different ballgame. our votes are toss out not counted who can we trust it's like back in the days kill all those that go against government. what is a vote is it not for the rights of the people . with tricks up their sleeves we no longer see our government as truthful as a babies cry Ido not care if we have a president that is green purple as long as his heart towards the people is truthful and caring as he said he would before getting into office and remember back in the 60's if they where good men someone would shoot them the politicians and celebrities might have all the money in the world but their is one thing they do not have love in their heart towards others everything is paid with money that is love for them while we care only to make ends meet at our families tables with a good paying job even know some have a wild mind to seek more than what they can afford to speak with their fashion and cars in other words showing off yet they have the same 9 to 5 job . it's not a phenomenon cause if it is it comes from the dark side of life.

As a democrat I am somewhat likely to agree with this stance. The democratic party sees an opening here for advancement. They want somebody of a minority, but not so much of a minority it will be resisted. They want him black, but not too black. They want a woman, but not to womanly.
I don't really know a lot about Obama's stance on most things. If you have noticed that is rarely talked about compared to the talk about his race.
They think this is a way in. Almost like a compromise of sorts. He's not full black, there is still some white in there so he must be ok. Its a racist stance in its self.
Show me where he stands on my issues, stop telling me he's half-black, and tell me what he can do for my country. I am to the point of nearly being ashamed of my own party.

It's true that some people think light-skinned people are "better" than darker ones. I don't think the US is "falling prey" to the same phenomenon; racism is in our history.
I think parts of the Democratic Party like Senator Obama because they think he can be elected. Perhaps you would care to register as a Democrat so you can express your opinion in the primaries.

My opinion is that choosing a president based on skin color, or hair color, or height, or sex, or any other physical trait is a pretty silly way to go about it. The position entails such great responsibility that it surely should be all about education, experience and political philosophy.

Silly question but one that can raise some hard issues ... why limit this to the office of president? Look into TV-land and the news anchors we listen to nightly. What do you see there?

If we're going by popular opinion, light-skinned easily equates into "Black Lite". And since we're unfortunately prejudiced in all aspects, slowly ushering in men of partial color will begin a progressive catalyst of change.
It's ridiculous, but if you're looking for results over fairness, this is your answer.

Do I care about Obama's color? No.
Do I care about Obama's stances? Yes.

The first black president needs to be qualified. Obama is not. Obama is also a liberal. He will never win. Liberals never win national elections.
