Since the area of a prism is base times height and the area of a pyramid is base times height divided by three one third of the water must have come out: 243 cm^3.

The volume of a prism = 3 times the volume of a pyramid with equal dimensions. So divide 729 by 3 then multiply by 2.

we know that the volume of the pyramid is 1/3 of the the prism.

1/3 (729) = 243cm^3

729 - 243 = 486cm^3

so the volume left in the prism is 486cm^3

Do your own homework so that you my learn. If your wrong then learn from your mistake. If someone here gives you the answer then you will have learned nothing. Life in general will be very difficult for you as you get older if you think others can and will solve your problems for you.

I don't mean to sound hurtful or even sarcastic. I just believe you could do better than asking for an answer when you could most likely figure it out yourself. If you need help that's different. Perhaps someone here could help you in ways you're not aware of, but don't just ask for the answer. Later in life you will need more answers and if you can't learn to figure out problems now then you will be in a world of trouble later on in life.

I believe in you and I'm sure others do too. I don't expect a best answer from my answer but I hope you read this and you at least consider what I'm saying. Thanks.
