My friend learned the pledge of allegiance in her spanish class, and I was wondering..... I came to the conclusion that I don't think it's right to say it in espanol, BECAUSE the national language is ENGLISH therefore, you should say the national pledge in ENGLISH. Am I just being b*tchy? Or do you agree?

I do not think it is wrong to say the pledge in Spanish it you are in a Spanish Class, or in a gathering of Spanish Speaking People. As long as they are being respectful and pledging to serve this country, what is wrong with that? Should people not be aloud to pray or read the Bible in Spanish? As long as people are worshiping and respecting GOD, it is wonderful. My problem, is forcing people to learn Spanish in this country in the name of being politically correct, or allowing people from other countries special exceptions because they do not speak English. I you can't read the drivers test, too bad. All the street signs or in English. Don't understand the directions on a customer service line, too bad, learn to speak English. I welcome anyone who wants to come to the USA, legally, but learn to speak English.

Somehow that doesn't seem right!!!! Why would you have to say the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish??? I don't see a reason for that. I'm a Spanish speaker but I do not agree with that!! I know how to say the Pledge of Allegiance in English and that's the way I do it and that's the way everyone who's a US citizen should do it! I wonder if there's someone, somewhere, you can complain to. It's obnoxious!!! .

I dont think it is rude to say the pledge in Spanish because she learned it for her spanish class. However, people speak english (or whatever derivitive of english you want to consider it) in this country and that is the language i feel the pledge should be said in.

No I don't think it's rude. The meaning of the pledge is still the same whether you say it in English or Spanish.

Let me answer in Spanish:
"No"

And btw there is no "National Language" in the US.

And are you just being bitchy? Let me answer in Bitchese:
"Yo! Word!"

Next week's lesson: We learn that the National Religion is Republicanism.

No, why should it be rude? Lots of people speak spanish in the US. Plus there's no actual national language in the US, not an official one at least.

It should be in English. If you went to another country and had to say their oath, it would be in their language, not English.
