I am 18 and just found out I am pregnant. I was not trying to get pregnant, so for about a month I didn't even know I was pregnant, and consequently plan on getting an abortion. During the past month I have smoked, drank alcohol, and done some drugs, and been taking all my birth control pills (thats why the pregnancy came as such an unexpected shock!). They have not done an ultrasound yet, so the doctor estimates the fetus may be anywhere from 4 to 10 weeks old. I have had no morning sickness whatsoever! Does this mean I have in all probability hurt the baby, or is it perfectly normal? In any case I am very nervous. Just for the record, if I had known I was pregnant this whole time, even though I am aborting it, I would never have smoked, drank alcohol, or taken drugs out of respect for my unborn baby. Thanks for answering!

No morning sickness is normal , my friend is 23 weeks and has had none at all, i am 35 weeks and get sick maybe 2 times a week. I agree with you and your decision to do what is best for you and your well being , there is alot more woman out there who choose to give birth to defected, drug addicted babies and not think twice about the quality of living the child will have .

This has to do with the abortion vs. adoption: everyone needs to remeber that even if a woman gives a baby up for adoption, she may still have to pay for the prenatal medical costs, including vitamins, doctor visits, natal delivery, nutrition and incidental costs such as stretch mark cream.
Not all adoption agreements will cover the costs of carrying a baby; therefore, please find out what will cost you more: a $500 abortion or 5 $800 doctor visits, a $15 bottle of vitamins once per month, $9,000 delivery costs, which may or may not be covered by insurance, and a stretched out belly.
Bottom line: if you don't want to raise the baby, then abort if you choose. Those families who want to raise children would be well advised to check their local foster care services for children who are already in the system. I can tell you that there is no shortage, so you having an abortion is not denying some "loving couple" a chance for a family.

why do you really care if you want to abort it anyway? You obviously are not too sure about aborting the pregnancy, in all probability, yes you may have hurt the baby, but it is also normal to not get morning sickness. Not every woman gets it. Just think about different options.....rather than abort it, there are plenty of people who can't have kids, you could always adopt it. Don't get me wrong i am definitely pro-choice, but it is such a little miracle, don't take that away from yourself or someone else. even at 10 weeks old, it really is a little baby, nearly fully developed. It might be something you really regret later on in life. But in saying that, you have to do what is right for you

Yes it is normal to not have morning sickness during pregancy. Some women are sick from nearly day one to the end, others aren't at all, and most are somewhere in between.
Whether you have hurt the baby is another story altogether. The fetus may or may not have been damaged by the drugs and such. That is another story altogether and is based upon the age of the fetus and what was taken. The fetus is susceptible to different things at different ages based on its level of development.

Some women dont have morning sickness. I only had it twice. If you don't want the baby, why not put it up for adoption. There are alot of people out there that can't have kids and would love you take your baby. Even with the stuff you have done, if you stop now the baby could be fine. Please give it some thought.

I did not have morning sickness at all for any of my eight pregnancies.
As far as it being "normal" despite the first months extra activities that you have done, no one would know what type of damage was done untill after the baby was here. Babies and children are resilliant and sometimes surprise us at being stronger than we thought.
Good luck with your decision.

If you are aborting it, why do you care? If this is helping you make the decision as to whether or not you should abort, wait for the ultrasound. They can tell quite a bit from that. Lastly, if you wouldn't put your child through the consequences of drinking, smoking, and doing drugs, why would you continue to do it to yourself?

Not odd at all, depends on the baby too...my wife was sick with two of my kids, not the third though...kind of weird, but the two morning sickness ones where boys, and the non morning sickness one was a girl.
And more importantly...Please don't kill that child, consider adoption.

It's not usual but normal not to have morning sickness. Unfortunately, you'll have all the religious right in here on your back about your planned abortion. You do what is right for you.
