Yes, worst president ever or a close runner up. Several historians wrote op ed pieces in the Washington Post in December on just this topic.

Every President will make the history book. Whether or not it will be good or bad depends on what side of the political fence you belong. Republicans will say he was great and the Democrats will say that he was bad. The facts are that he took an economy that was going to generate a surplus and drove it into the largest budget deficit of all time. His administration is heading to has many scandals as Nixon's but not on Nixon's scale yet. In my life time he is the worst public speaker that I have seen or heard.

He will be regarded as one of the greats (To many's dismay)
A test of a Presidency is to be strong doing the worst of times. Our history has a lot tragedies but the great ones always prevail (Lincoln, FDR, Eisenhower) . If you think the Iraq War was bad then you must also think the Civil War wasn't worth it nor WWII. Many died to make the world a better place.
You see... we don't live in this utopia...
There is real Evil in this world...fostered by irrational emotion and thinking...and tolerance for it.
People think if we can 'sing' about peace and 'talk' about peace, 'watch' a movie about peace that peace will spread just like a Hollywood ending in a movie.
You don't know peace until you understand Evil.
......until you accept it.

Well, when one considers that George Bush was president during 9/11 I would say there is a pretty good chance he will be mentioned in some book 100 years from now.

i love reading other peoples answers... its so eye-opening...
"cut and run" - "if we dont fight them there they will bring it here." I cant believe anyone actually still believes this stuff. It is amazing how people can be brainwashed just by the simple act of repetition which the Republican have down pat... Rush says it, Fox says it, Republicans say it... i swear there must be a fax machine that send out the "words of the day" because when you listen to several talk shows, they all end up using the same 3 or 4 words to describe whatever the issue of the day is. i listen to all these shows and its fascinating as a social study...
I have to say, the last time i watched Bush in a speech and listened to him repeat the same old lines, i really felt like he didnt even believe what he was saying anymore... i think my dislike of him has turned to pity...
It will be interesting to see how history rates him... some think 50 years from now he may be seen as a great leader. i cant even comprehend that, but then again i guess it all depends on who writes/re-writes history...

Medicare has expanded under Bush greater than any federal give away except for the Social Security Scam. So you are wrong there.
Bush will go down in history as trying to avenge the 9/11 attack but so badly mismanaged the war by under-prosecuting it that he lost everything as a result of it.
Ultimately, because of his mismanagement of the war, the US will pull back, only to be struck seriously again within a decade. Bush will take the blame for not prosecuting the war the right way when he had the chance.
Bush will go down as blowing our best chance to defeat terrortism and radical Islamists by being too cautious and conservative when fighting a war.

Bush is already in the history books.
Some Conservatives would argue that your Grandma should have planned better for her retirement and that her failing to do so should not be imposed on society - and they would have a point. Cold-hearted, perhaps, but a fair point nonetheless.
Mind-boggling incompetence is the reason Bush will not be considered great or evil.

I really dislike Bush, but still in the history books he will be known for the good things he did, whatever they are. Look at Nixon, in the end they talked about the good things he did, and he was very immoral.

We may very well be close to a large scale global conflict.
Of course, it IS Bush's fault. He has single-handedly undone almost a hundred years of international diplomacy.
He WILL make it to the history books, as the worst thing to happen to America, and the world in general, since Hitler.

Every President has, either a monument.or there birth place as a landmark,or they have a museum build for them, also we have a national historian who writes about each President or what happens in the country and the world.
