I like the superhero tandem of "Superman" and "The Flash". Guess who those are, heh heh.
All time great nicknames:
"The Human Highlight Film" - Dominique Wilkins
"The Round Mound of Rebound" - Charles Barkley
"Pistol" - Pete Maravich
"The Mailman" - Karl Malone
"The Answer" - Allen Iverson
"The Rifleman" - Chuck Person
"Iceman" - George Gervin
"Skywalker" - David Thompson
"Houdini of the Hardwood" - Bob Cousy
"Doctor J" - Julius Erving
"The Big O" - Oscar Robertson
"The Hawk" - Connie Hawkins
"Worm" - Dennis Rodman
Earl "The Pearl" Monroe
Walt "Clyde" Frazier (coz he dressed like Clyde in Bonnie and Clyde"
I love classic NBA nicknames, much better than C-Webb or J-Will or whatever.

I don't know if this would classify as best for you because this is more of an opinion question. But some of the most recognized would be Popeye Jones, Speedy Claxton, Smush Parker, or Penny Hardaway.
Barely anyone calls them by their real name, and with the exception of Penny (Anfernee), Not too many people know their real names. (Smush= William Henry Parker, Speedy= Craig Claxton, Popeye= Ronald Jones)

I'm shocked that nobody mentioned Air Jordan. He looked like he was walking on air when he jumped. He has his own logo based on the jumpman persona. And don't forget THE HUMAN HIGHLIGHT FILM Dominique Wilkins. The Mailman was okay even though he doesn't deliver on Sundays. Remember Chuck Person? They called him THE RIFLEMAN and with a name like that you know he's not passing the ball. Reggie Miller should've had a nickname like "MILLER THE KNICK KILLA"
