My nipples are red and cracked at the center (whitish in the center). i used lanolin for a while and it became better but not perfect. the wierd thing is that when i go to take a shower, they turn really red and the cracks in the center show more. it happens just before i start showering.
can anyone suggest any medicine or why it happens? also should i continue using lanolin coz i have stopped for a while

I would make an apt. with your doc. & get checked out.
It would difficult to make a diagnose without being seen.

First off are you breastfeeding? It sounds like a yeast infection. I guess you could get one even if you are not nursing. If you are sore to touch that would be a clear indicator. If you are not nursing it could also be a change in laundry soap or shampoo or soap you are using in the shower. Airing them out will be good for them as well. If you must wear a shirt around the house, wear a light cotton top loose around the sore area.

Are you or have you ever breastfed? When I was breastfeeding my nipples were really bad at first and I realized that they were staying damp all the time and not getting a chance to dry off. It sounds like your problem my be related because of the shower. Be sure to let them airdry after the shower. You could also try a natural oil (not mineral oil). You can buy natural oils at health food stores, like almond oil.

Sounds to me that your water is very harsh to your skin! Try bag balm........they use it for cow gutters when milking cows becuz their gutters get real chapped becuz of so much fraction! you can find it at a pharmacy in a green tin can just ask them!
