When ever I feel doubt, scared or tired I always read:
Joshua 1:9 - "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
Or depending on the circumstances, I start from verse 1 and go to verse 9. It's quite inspiring. Hope it helps.

It's fantastic to have favorites. You will find usefulness everywhere, addressing today's needs, if you believe. A christian book store will have many pamphlet style publications for inspiration and hope for a variety of issues. God had to come and die that you, after having believed could be saved. God might have done that as Deity, but he became a man so he could understand YOU personally and that he could be a perfect judge, having walked in your shoes.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by useful, but one of my favorites is;
"And if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God who giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him."
James 1:5
I also really enjoy reading through the Beattitudes and The Sermon on the Mount.

Well, seeing how today is Easter, this one is very "useful" to me and the entire world.
John 11:25
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

Here are two that are very useful throughout your life, and I paraphrase when I say....
Love everyone, love God (the two commandments of Jesus)
Cast your bread upon the waters and they will come back to you a thousand fold (what goes around comes around)

To tell you the truth,
You'd probably get more answers if you posed this question in the Society & Culture category under "Religion."
