possibly but not necessarily. 14 is a strange time, the hormones are all over the place going about 600mph. on side note: it goes without saying he shouldnt have access to porn at age 14. sorry just had to get that out. he may be confused as to his own sexuality, he may be repressing certain fears or misconceptions about the opposite sex. but only he will know if he is gay or not. doesnt sound like he has engaged in sexual activity, and that will be a big step.

Gay or not... watching porn at 14 probably isn't the best. Maybe you should be more concerned about the porn viewing vs. being gay.

If he is gay, he'll tell you when he's ready.

Why does it matter? You only have one life. Live it yourself. Communication is worth the effort. Literacy, that is, not phonology. Phonology is the study of sounds. Are you looking for codes in your friend's speech? That won't cut it for communication. Use metaphor, poetry etc. That sorts out what people are really all about.

It is really hard to tell for sure. This is the perfect age where young adults begin to experiment with things and find their true selves. Let him figure out who he is. He'll let you know once he knows for sure himself. But try to be supportive, what he feels now may not be how he feels later on down the road.
