Theoretically, the world will end when the sun explodes...
Since the sun is increasing in size every year and considering that the sun is a star... But, I do believe that for about a thousand years before the world will end, the human race will be eradicated due to intense heat which humans won't be able to survive... (^^,)

Well, it really depends on your definition of "world". I believe, although it may be a scary thing, that humanity may not survive the next millennium due to nuclear warfare. However the aftermath of that nuclear warfare may obliterate many of the things that we have come to know and love on our mother earth. If the many massive nuclear explosions eliminate all living things, destroy the atmosphere and evaporate waters, is it still considered a world?
PS. The United States has enough nuclear bombs in their arsenal to blow up the world over 100 times. I hope this is not against the code of conduct but here is a link that might prove interesting.

I suspect that the world will end long after there aren't any more people, with a series of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions as the planet is sucked into the sun to be used as fuel. We (I think) will have destroyed ourselves a very long time before Earth is consumed.

My theory is that life has come to end one day whether you live 100 years.Same is the case with this world, like everything that is born and comes to an end,it too is going to end.But that one day is far far away.and it is not humans who are guilty for it,it has always been like this.

Why have to be programmed that there is that inevitable end to whatever has begun.
I think ,the end , if you insist so, would come the day the mankind stop seeing the light of reason and purpose.
Could be many other Physics and scientific mambo-jumbos about it .But, philosophically speaking .....

I don't think we can end the world before ourselves, so I agree with the first answer, because only the Sun is really powerful enough to destroy Earth properly.

Apparently theres a gland in your brain that contains a similar chemical to that of hallucinagenic mushrooms, if someone finds out how to activate it we'll all go crazy and crack the world in half with pogo sticks or something!

Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice.
Judging from desire I tend to hold with those who favor fire.
But if I had to live twice I would have to say
To die in ice is equally bad, and would suffice.

when i die the world will end for me and when you die the world will end for you as it will not be able to be expierenced anywho that is just my guess but if you go by what is written in the bible the world will end by the devils hand who will send his beasts (water and earth beasts) to carry out his work.

Yeah I agree with OilCity.
We are doing enough damage to this planet that we will probably destroy it before anything such as asteroids or the sun getting closer to the earth can get to it.
Sad sad....
