Mine doesn't do it a lot, only every now and then and in small amounts. There's also a ring of bubbles around the top of the water in the tank on the edges. I think it's possibly only from extra calcium ( due to a calcium bone in the water and a turtle shaped conditioner) but I've read that if a RES blows bubbles that it's bad and could mean she's really sick. Help!

Bubbles on the surface are common- that is just protein. It might signal the need for a better filter.

Blowing bubbles from the nose when it breathes is a sign of a respiratory infection (RI), which might be because of low water temps, stress, etc. Try this link if it is: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/medinjuries.htm

Get the conditioner thing out of the water- diet should provide the calcium, not what is now functionally hard water.
