Is my chemical romance considered Emo, and if so, why?

Well, I just hear Emo from my brother alot, and I dont really care what people dress or act like. I think its stupid to put people into groups, just because of how they act. My brother told me that emos cut themselves, are supposedly gay, and wear really tight pants, and wear lots of makeup.

No, My Chemical Romance should NOT be considered "emo." "Emo" is an overused term nowadays with no meaning behind it at all. My Chemical Romance is a honest band with honest lyrics of all that the 5 guys have been through. They have stated, themselves, that they don't want to be associated with the "emo" label, too.

lol, by ur def, then other than the gay part they kinda would be, but honestly aren't, though it just depends on what the otherlables they want to go by, also, you're not making it clear as to the band in an entirerdy(sp?) is emo or the members themselves, either way, no. If you want emos, check out Hawthorne Heights(lol, no offence, i love them). they're usually classified as punkrock/rock/alternative, NOTT pop! on their myspace their labled rock/metal...
Alot of their songs have to do with death and stuff, and they do tend to have a prefernce of tight clothes and have all dealt with mental problems(cutting, drugs, and depression included), but overall can't really be called emo, cause unlike other emos they don't cry a lot over stupid things....

They are not Emo! They are human beings for goodness sakes! Why are people labeling bands?! Labeling bands are for dorks! Get a life people! And What the heck is a Emo? Some kind of bird? Emus?

emo emo emo.... blah....... this word has such a variety of meanings...................... i dont think there is just one perfect definition of the emo genre. im not even sure that an emo rock genre exists anymore.... o well..... i think that MCR's sound can change with each song (good thing) and i don't think that it's possible to put them in any specific category except for pop rock but that's ok! the genre label shouldn't turn people away from their music

I hate pop rock like my chemical romance so I never listen to them. Emo is a stupid word because it's suppose to mean that you want to cut yourself and cry about the fact that your parents don't love you while in reality they give gifts like every week for no reason at all.
