A sphincter is any valve along the digestion tract, blood vessels, or any other tube in the body that opens and closes. If someone called you a sphincter, they were probably calling you an asshole (which is a sphincter).

Not necessairly. A sphincter is a transitional closure which opens from one body part to another.. for example there is the lower esophageal sphincer which allows food to enter the stomach and not return back up (failure of this is GERD).. there is the sphincter of odei which allows pancreatic enzymes and bile into the gut to assist in digestion and then of course there is the anal sphincter (the butt hole) which allows for defication. No, it is not anything dirty. It is a muscle that holds an opening closed whn you want it closed, A sphincter keeps the urine from running out of your penis all day long. Another sphincter keeps your rectum from dribbling stool all of the time. It is good that we have these muscles or we would all have to wear diapers our whole lives!

There are sphincter muscles in your body. When most people talk about your sphincter, they are probably referring to the anal sphincter which helps expel feces (poo) It's just trying to be funny.

All of you people are wrong-its the opening and closing parts to a stomach.
Cardiac sphincter is connecting gullet to stomach and pyloric sphinter connects stomach to duodenum.
