You haven't given any evidence as to why it is paradoxical.
I can give anecdotal evidence that over the past 20 years, it certainly seems hotter in the UK.
Global Warming seems fairly simple, currently the world is getting warmer and this could be due to several factors. A paradox it is not.

It is somewhat paradoxical, in that global warming indicates warming for the whole planet.
This is not true however. Some of the planet will experience cooler temperatures as a result of climate shifts. This is why scientist are trying to use the term global climate change as opposed to global warming.
For example, on of the predicted side effects of global warming is that the gulf stream will weaken or "shut down". The gulf stream basically helps moderate the temperatures of England and northern Europe. If the stream were to shut down, England and Northern Europe would become cooler and drier.

the paradox is that green house gasses primarily CO2 is what science used to say caused the ice ages. we have excess CO2 now and the earth is warming. was somebody wrong? or is this a case of blaming the usual suspects.
