ok, should i drain my oil and check if there is water in it? i checked my coolant level, it is normal. my truck has been losing coolant, i though it was due to a loose bolt on my block, tightened the bolt, not losing coolant near as much. what actually happened was i was driving down the hwy and all the sudden i heard 4-5 popping sounds then the truck rolled to a stop and was completely shut off when i was stopped. i tried starting it back up but no luck. the engine will turn over but will not start. a local gm dealer said it sound like an ignition coil problem, replaced that, still won't start. i've also been told it sounds like water in my gas, so i put heet in it but it hasn't made any difference. it does seem as though it doesn't have enough compression to fully crank. anyone else have any ideas, i'm open to any suggestions, thanks!

It will run badly, with loss of power. Chances are you will have a check engine light on. You may have white smoke if coolant is getting in the combustion chambers, or milky looking oil it it's getting in the oil. Fouled plugs, hard starting and low compression.

I just had a crate engine put in mine because the cam went flat after 300,000 miles. All told for the motor and replacing a new other components including the clutch while it was out was $7,364.15 installed, but $300 of that was the core since I kept the old engine.

missing, water in oil ,oil in water,sitting still will not run hot ? but will run a lot hotter temp or overheating when driven at highway speeds,possibly around town, coolant or coolant smell from exhaust ,steam from exhaust more than normal. takes longer to start after it sits a while or overnight this is from coolant entering 1 or more cylinders and it takes several revolutions to push coolant out of cylinders. hope this helps

i have a 98 454 vortec engine that I believe to have a blown headgasket and not a cracked head, but there is no water in my oil, there is no oil in my radiator, my truck starts up like normal, but it does run rough, it runs hotter than normal and there is white smoke coming out of the driver side exhaust, the truck does have true dual exhaust, so Im thinking that one side is bad. im just praying that it is not a cracked head, could anyone help me out with this? Thanks.

i own a shop and one would be pressure build up in the cooling system and the other would be a loss of compression or a loss of coolant in it,actually i gave you three there but that is the main things you would notice about one,good luck i hope this helps.

The same as for any motor. You will see water in the oil, or in the exhaust. Also a severe loss of power could accompany this condition.

water in the oil! check your oil. if it has water in it, it'll be kind of milky grey in color.
