"Cheeburger, Cheeburger" if you are in the Washington, D.C. or eastern Maryland (Baltimore) area; and In-and-Out if you are in a Western state. I have tried Fudrucker's several times, and on the whole I've been disappointed. Some places have done away with just putting a slice of cheese on the top, and have upgraded things by putting a "glop" of either sharp cheddar or blue cheese on top - and it makes all other cheeseburgers taste, well - "cheezy' (if you get my drift). Bon apitite.

I grew up in Southern Ca. but now I live in St. Louis Mo.
And I would have to say that I am still a huge fan of Fudruckers, the burgers are big, juicy and delicious.

I live in the northern Virginia area, and a chain I have seen more and more around here is Five Guys. They make really delicious burgers and you can choose from tons of toppings.

Margaritaville's "Cheeseburger In Paradise". It tatsed just like the song!
Locally it would have to be The Cottage Bar (Grand Rapids, Michigan).
Oh my gosh...I've had Five Guys burgers too when I was down in the Outer Banks. Great burgers!

Just a comment not looking for best answer but ask a military person in middle east in war. Think tell you McDonald's or Burger King. (all things are relative)

Moody's Pub on Broadway in Chicago, best freaking Hamburgers ever. I love going there, but refrain to maybe once a year, because a hamburger and fries there is a heart attack on a plate. But, seriously if you are visiting Chicago, and want to get out of downtown and into a nice neighborhood go north to Moody's, it is an experience in and of itself.

That would have to be Jackson Hole, in NYC. They have the largest selection of different types of burgers and they use top quality meat. I'm not a real meat lover, but do enjoy a burger from Jackson Hole every so often.

I went to college in minnesota and we went to these two burger places almost 2 hours away from school because their burgers were best in the world... Cambria Bar and Grill, Cambria, MN and Lamplighter, New Ulm MN.... Lamplighter had a fantastic burger with sourcream pepperjack cheese...and also one with coleslaw on it... sounds wierd but is fantastic.

The Vichy Wye, in Vichy, Missouri, population less than 500. They are individually handmade by a little old grandma lady in a tiny kitchen. ONE will fill you up completely. And it takes forever to get your food, but the wait is worth it. :~)
