I'd give my rating in terms of basketball shoes. In terms of comfort and design -- it's Nike/Jordan Brand. In terms of durability - I'd say adidas. In terms of value for money - I'd say Reebok. Converse, though they were the bomb during the era of Dr.J, Magic, and Bird (remember the Cons Weapon??), they somewhat did a 360 and lost some momentum. And1 is a good shoe but the designs are not that great. Starbury??? Don't even mention. I have to say though that the Nikes don't last that long. Overall, I'd still go for Nikes. When adidas got a lot of athletes to endorse them and the deal to be the official outfitter of the nba, they are now trying to creep up on Nike's turf.

It might be a different story when we view this question from the perspective of another sport (say soccer or football). I have observed a lot of soccer players playing in the World Cup wear adidas and a lot of NFL players don Reeboks. So it may be a case-to-case basis among different sports.

Nike own Converse, Adidas own Reebok, And1 is a small company, Starbury's are a cutprice shoe. I pretty much always wear nikes (but used to wear pony) but I think that Starbury has to be congratulated for providing a shoe that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy.

N-I-K-E . Air Jordan made them famous and now Lebron is doing his thing. Charles Barkley had a hand in it also, and Penny Hardaway. Remember Lil' Penny? Financially I would think that Nike is a Powerhouse compared to all the other shoes out there. Converse will always have a symbolic attachment to the NBA because those were the first shoes displayed when the NBA got started, then Dr. J., Magic, and Bird helped make them famous. But it starts and ends with NIKE.

I'd say Nike. Not just coz it's being endorsed by the top players, LeBron and Kobe just to name a few, but they really are the best. Based from experience, Nike is my favorite. It does't wear out easily. I've had Nike, Adidas, Reebok, and Converse. All of them lasted long, but Nike remained strong. Up to now i can still use my Nikes. My Adidas, Reebok, and Converse are all gone. Well the Converse is still here but it gives me foot ache.

I bought a couple pairs of Starburys and for the price, you just can't beat them. Plus they're not bad in terms of quality and looks.
