Do I have to pay if the gate is open? And what happens if I don't? I am new to this stuff and there is no info what to do if it's open. I have always thought that you have to pay to open the gate, but now I am confused. It happened to me twice - both late in the evening (about 9-10 pm.) Thanks for info.

Usually if the gate is open and there is no attendant, there is no parking fee, even if you got a ticket stub when you entered. In my area, there's a hospital parking lot that only charges for parking during certain hours. If you leave after a certain time, there's no charge.

What luck, if they leave the gate open. That means that the attendant isn't there to collect the fee and you are home free. Maybe the guy got off work, and is done for the day, or maybe he had to go to the restroom. Anyway, go ahead and leave, and count your blessings. Maybe do something nice for someone else the same day. Good luck
