When we were in the womb of our mother we were in another world. We were living in a physiological world completely different from this physical world. It was an aquatic world.
When we abandoned the womb world (died to the womb world) and were born into the physical world, we didn't "go" to any other place. We stayed in the same place. We entered into a higher dimension of existence, the physical world.
Similarly when we abandon the physical world we continue our existence in a higher dimension that is not physical but spiritual.
The next world is not a "place" where we will be going to. It is here, but in another dimension unknown to us, just as the physical world was unknown to the fetus, until he was born.
Death, meaning non-existence, can not be, because existence can not become non-existence. Even in the physical sense our body continues to exist after we die; in another way.
Now the purpose of the physiological world -the womb world- was to develop eyes, ears, lungs, feet, hands and brains, that were of no use in that environment. Their necessity became apparent in the following world, this physical world.
The purpose of the physical world in which we live now, is to develop moral virtues and to put them to the service of mankind. The usefulness of the effort of polishing our character and acquiring moral virtues will become apparent in the other dimensions of life which are not material but spiritual because progress continues in all the worlds and is not limited to this physical world

I've had a near death experience before. I remember being so calm and relaxed. Honestly, I have to admit I was somewhat disappointed when I came out of it back into consciousness. I remember how peaceful it was, and the way I didn't worry much of the things of my life. I guess it depends on the individual in that aspect because some may have regrets.
I feel life is like an evaluation period and at the very end our decisions are graded. Do you know the expression, "We are our own hardest critic"? I believe our own self criticisms play a part in this evaluation process. I think during our life we must strive to better ourselves so that we can reach a better afterlife.
As far as my theory on the afterlife, I can't give you a good answer on that. All that I can say is that from my personal experience, my own individual path seemed pretty sweet.

I think this is a really interesting theory, to say the least. It makes sense that in the same way people's outlooks on life are changed as a result of near death experiences, a hallucinogenic drug, which generally would temporarily result in the person losing a sense of reality, what's real and what's not, would be greatly affected by his/her state of mind at the time of his/her death. The reason for the whole "going toward the light" thing might be because of the fact that the heaven/hell idea was surgically implanted into many of our brains as kids.

my theory would be the one of Oregon energy, as energy cannot be made and cannot disappear, the energy that gives life (otherwise described as : what distinguishes a dead body from a living one) doesn't dosappear, it just changes form, so to some point, this corresponds with the theory of reincarnation. I am not sure if I believe in it completely, but it's a good theory in any case.

my theories about life are always changing....i keep my mind open to newer theories all the time and try to not to be confined by any confirmation biases...afterlife? i think it would be difficult to make any kind of valid hypothesis about an afterlife unless youve already been dead....one can only speculate really...my current conjecture on "afterlife" is that there is an energy that leaves our bodies and goes into another body or realm after this

Life is like one BIG party, the arrival and beginning is always fun and you don't want to go home as you're having too much of a blast and you feel safe as you're with your friends and family. But come the end you DO want to go home as you're tired and you need sleep, nearly all of your other friends and family have gone. The party's worn you out a bit and it wasn't as fun as the beginning, this is how I view my life, one day I know I'm going to have to go home and sleep, but for the moment the party's still in full swing.

I don't believe there is an "after" life per se. I believe that life is continuous, we simply experience it from different perceptions. Right now, we have chosen to experience a physical life within the illusions of time and space limitations. When this one is over, we will morph into a spiritual or non-physical life. Then we will make more decisions about how we want to experience life and from what perspectives from there.

Man + Woman = Birth -> Death -> Infinity
That's life. Afterlife is a hole in the ground or a funeral pyre. As far as I am concerned this is it. No heaven, no hell. Just death and return to the accumulation of matter we refer to as Earth.

i beleive that hell is hot on the basis that boilws law states that with increased pressure the temperature will rise within an inclosed system. This is based on the theory that no souls can escape from hell. Also a girl refuses to go out with me until hell freezes over. As she still wont go out with me i can asume that hell is still hot.

We are spiritual creatures on a brief earthly journey.
We won't comprehend the afterlife until we are there.
I was almost there once. I had a near death experience...I was in the glorious peaceful white light. It was heavenly.
