Officiant - I just mean someone who can perform a wedding. Doesn't have to be a minister. We don't want alot of religious ceremony, just something simple.

When you get married you will get married at the Court House and you will get sworn in front of a County Clerk, then you have 3-day to make that license official in front of a Judge go to the family court house or ask any civil judge in downtown and ask for an appointment to validate you Marriage Certificate and you will have to pay the court fee, and most Judges won't charge you a fee (but some do). Just search around.
Best of luck.

Well, in terms of who can legally perform weddings - one has to be an ordained minister with proper registration or a judge. HOWEVER, one can become ordained on the internet for at www.ulc.org and that is 100% legal. The person ordained would have to get the documentation of their ordination (available on the site) and follow the court proceedure for registering their ordination. Check with the County Clerk's office to get those ordination registration proceedures if they dont have the info, they know who will. So, now you can choose a friend, a family member, or someone you admire (from teachers to mentors to ????) to perform the ceremony provided they follow the rules states above.

I don't know what you mean by officiant, but something I have seen done by other couples that you could do if you are a Christian is to have communion with your fiancée as part of the ceremony.

It depends on how much time you have before the wedding, but I would try the local paper in the classifieds under services performed. Good luck.

Isn't there a non-denominational church arond the corner from the Warwick Hotel? I don't remember the name of the church, but friends got married there. Is that Main Street? I'm in NYC and can't remember the exact location.
