My cousin wants to breastfeed her newborn, but she smoked weed for the first time after she had her son. She wants to know if weed effects the breastmilk. I know that alcohol and things she eats would affect the milk, but i know smoking cigarettes is allowed, so what about weed.

there should be no effects as long as she isnt smoking it while breastfeeding. most of the weed is detoxed from the body with in the first 3 weeks after smoking but there is still a small amount left and that should not be harmful to the baby.

Smoking is not "allowed" either. Don't know what exactly the weed does to her milk, but it can't be good.

She's a dummy. If she wants to smoke a spliff she's just gonna have to put the baby on Enfamil, but NO breastfeeding. I wouldn't even smoke ciggs while breastfeeding. We can be so selfish.

Yes it will. Your cousin is irresponsible. It's time to grow up, she has a child now.
