The legality of riding in the open bed of a pick up truck varies from state to state. In the state I live in it is totally illegal, the one exception was that stupid Suburu that had a seat with seat belts in the bed.

Well the laws are different in every state. But here in Massachusetts it is illegal regardless of where you're driving. The only way for ANY passengers to legally be in the bed of a pickup is if there are seats in the bed. Keep in mind that these seats MUST be attached to the bed of the truck. Meaning they MUST be bolted down. And yes have seat belts. The ONLY exception to this is if the vehicle is in a parade.

definite it is going to. you'll likely get some more advantageous miles in preserving with gallon yet be careful that you keep in innovations the gate is down once you're backing up. also be sure that the gate isn't blocking off any light fixtures or your vehicle plate or it may spell worry. you may also remove the gate totally and positioned on really a style of shipment nets. i lately positioned a cap on a nissan pickup truck and my mileage more advantageous via 3mpg.

Is it legal ??? That all depends on the jurisdiction you are planning on doing this in !

Is it smart ??? Absolutely not... if you were to swerve at 70 mph or God forbid overturn at highway speeds... there would be nothing left of your friends as their bodies would fly all over the place and be scattered about for a semi or something else to run them over !!!

i would say ur chances of getting pulled over are pretty high. I would say and think that is highly illegal in all states. If all else fails, call ur local highway patrol office. good luck!!!!
