- 5x + 9y = 36

- 5x + 9y + 5x = 5x + 36

9y = 5x + 36

9y / 9 = 5x / 9 + 36/ 9

y = 5/9x + 4

Slope is 5/9

as a way to unravel for the slope and y-intercept, you may positioned that equation into slope-intercept style that's y = mx +b: the position m = the slope, b = the y-intercept First, you may positioned the 'x' variable on the different fringe of the equation: (upload 5x to both side) 9y = 5x + 36 Now you may divide via via 9: y = 5/9 x + 4 So the slope = 5/9 (m) and the y-intercept = 4 (b) wish this facilitates!

For future reference, and an increase in your speed, note that when you write the equation in general format (as you have above), namely Ax + By = C, that the slope is always A/B change the sign. So in your problem, the slope is -5/9 change the sign, or 5/9 as many have already answered. But there is no need to slow down and write the equation in slope intercept form.

Also the x-intercept is C/A and the y-intercept is C/B.

hi! I'd be glad to help you out!!

y=mx+b- slope intercept form

m= slope

b= y-intercept

Ax+By=C----- Standard Form

you want to change from standard form to slope-intercept form and the way to do that is to solve for y

-5x+9y=36
+5x +5x-------- add 5x to both sides

9y=36+5x------- divide both sides of the equation by 9 so your left with y

9y/9= 36/9+5x/9----------simplify

y=4+5x/9------- remember to corectly place into slope intercept(y=mx+b)

so y=5/9x+4------ so the m is the slope and 5/9 is in m's place

so the slope of the line is 5/9

y=5/9x+4
m=5/9--------- ANSWER

Thank you!!!

y = mx + b
m = slope
b = y-intercept

put the equation into slope intercept from

-5x + 9y = 36
9y = 5x + 36
y = 5/9x + 4

slope is 5/9

first you need to get y on one side of the equation..
NB. when you get y on one side, -5x changes to 5x, change side change signs..
So what you do is 9y= 36 + 5x
Divide everything by 9
So you get y= 4+ 5/9x
The slope therefore is 5/9, the slope of any equation is always the co-efficient or number on x..

5/9

add the five x over, divide by nine to isolate y and make the equation conform to point slope form of y=mx+b

first convert to slope inercept form (y=mx+b)
then m is the slope
