I'm having a REALLY hard time understanding why so many people are responding and giving you the wrong answer. You really shouldn't answer a question if you don't know it.
NO, it is not possible for two people with blue eyes to have a brown eyed child. The reason is that when you pass on genes to your child, the child gets two genes from each parents, what are called alleles. People with blue eyes have two recessive alleles. Someone with brown eyes either has two dominant brown alleles, or a blue recessive and a brown dominant. If there is a dominant allele, that is the trait that will be expressed. If there are no dominant alleles, then the recessive trait will be expressed. Therefore, if two parents with blue eyes each give their child one allele, they will have to give them a blue recessive allele so the child will have two blue recessive alleles and thus blue eyes.
It has NOTHING to do with how many people in the family have blue or brown eyes, but solely the parents. I hope this helps.

I minored in biology in college. A blue-eyed couple will have blue eyed children because it's recessive gene, meaning you have to carry it on both genes in order to show the characteristic. Brown eye is dominant, so if you carry the gene, no matter what's on the other, you will have brown eyes. Two brown eyed people can have a blue eyed child if both parents carry, and pass on that gene.
I know this can be confusing, so here's another example of passing on genes. Everyone should know that a female has XX, and a male has XY. You get one X from your mom, since that's all she has to give, since she's an XX. Your dad can give you either gene, which determines your sex. It doesn't matter that a female's dad carry's a Y gene, we know she didn't get the Y, other wise she would have been a boy. Same thing with blue eyes, it doesn't matter if you dad has brown eye, if he's passed that gene to you, then you would have brown eyes since it's dominant. Hope this helps.
*There have been rare cases in which a mutation, or abnormatity of the geen occurs , and 2 brown eyed people have had a blue eyed gene, but it's extremely rare for that to happen, there's less than a 1% chance. The rule of thumb is, if 2 blue eyed peole have a baby, the baby will have blue eyes. If the baby doesn't, then dad should ask for a paternity test for sure!!

exactly i really don't kno why everybody keeps giving you the wrong answer if they really don't kno and it has nothing to do with family but the parents. and if u can't explain your answer of really know the science behind it then don't answer.
NO you can't, itz funny because we had this same exact question in mrs. Rices science class learning about genetics
brown is the dominant gene so the gene's for eyes so if
B = brown eyes, the dominant gene
b= blue eyes, the recessive gene
then a parent with a gene BB, or Bb would mean they'd have brown eyes, and bb is the only gene with blue eyes
so two brown eyed parents can have a blue eyed child if both of their gene's are Bb because the child could have a chance of getting the small b from both parents
NOW, two blue eyed parents can't have brown eyed kids because their gene's would HAVE to be bb. Get it?
there is NO brown gene (B) anywhere so itz not possible
they can only have blue eyed children

Eye colors can be recessive or dominant. Brown eye color is dominant, which means that if you have even ONE gene for brown eyes, then brown will be the resultant eye color.
Blue eyes are recessive, so in order to have blue eyes you need two genes for blue eyes. Remember that you get 1 gene from the mother, and 1 from the father for eye color and think of it in terms of the easy old punnit square that you should have learned about in high school biology:
Brown eyes can be genes BB (Brown from mother and Brown from father) or Bb (brown from one parent, blue from the other. The eye color for someone with genes Bb is still brown, because brown is dominant).
Blue eyes can ONLY be bb (a recessive gene for blue from both parents, even if one or both parents has brown eyes) because you need TWO recessive blue genes in order to have blue eyes! If either parent passes down the brown gene the color B (brown) will be dominant and the eye color will be brown!
So, if you have two parents that have bb (blue) eye color, the ONLY color combination that the child can have is bb. Blue.
Note that if you have two brown eyed parents that YES, they can have blue eyed children if they both pass down the recessive gene for blue eyes.

Of course. It's all down to genes. A blue eyed couple can have a brown eyed child if there are brown eye genes down the genetic line. And there will be somewhere I would think!

Nope, brown eyes are dominate to blue eyes. So, two people with blue eyes would have to have two blue eye chromosomes, meaning any child they have will also have blue eyes. However, two people with brown eyes may have one brown and one blue eye chromosome, so there is a 1 in 4 chance that they will have a blue eyed child and a 3 in 4 chance they will have a brown eyed child. (Unless one parent has two brown eye chromosomes and the other has one blue and one brown eye chromosome, then all children will have brown eyes.)

No, 2 blue-eyed parents will have blue eyed children. Blue is a recessive trait. It is possible for a mutation to occur and for the baby to have eyes that are hazel, green, or gray, but not brown.
ADDED: When I read all the answers that said it was possible for 2 blue-eyed parents to have a brown-eyed baby, I went in search of some information. Apparently the genetics of eye-color are not as simple as we were taught in high school biology. It IS possible for 2 blue-eyed parents to have a brown-eyed baby by way of genetic compensation that is connected to a mutation in the genes that make eye color. yes. blue eyes are a ressesive gene (not as strong) brown eyes are a stronger gene. If you and your partner have both got brown eyes but one of your parents has blue... you could have a blue eyed child.

No, blue is the recessive trait in eyes and too have blue eyes means you have two recessives, if both adults have blue eyes the child can only be blue eyed as both adults will pass the recessive trait
