Compare the coverage that the Duke Lacrosse team got with the coverage of the Newsom/Christian murder and rape.

“Newsom was kidnapped, raped and beaten. According to reports, his penis was then cut off before he was shot several times and set on fire, all while his girlfriend watched. His body was then dumped alongside train tracks. Christian was kept alive and gang-raped multiple times over a span of four days. Her breast was cut off while she was still alive and her kidnappers sprayed cleaning fluid into her mouth to cleanse it of DNA. Her body was then put into a garbage can.” — from The Diamondback newspaper at the University of Maryland

The media practices censorship all the time, they just don't admit it. They pick and choose what stories go out and which ones don't. A lot fo the time it is because they feel there is no intest, (remember, it's all about ratings) or worse, they are censored because of political and/or religious beliefs. It's a dirty little secret, but it happens that news that puts a particular political party or religious belief, or minority in a good/bad light won't make it on the news according to the beliefs of producers and anchors.

That is disturbing and shocking. May be the reason why they do cover it up is to not allow it to be glamorized by others. It is a need of attention just like serial killers do crave for. It is all about power, intimidation and humiliation.

They have a tendency not to mention minority status, even when it is a relevant fact in the crime. (Often it is not relevant, of course.)
Remember the Muslim (mostly black-immigrant) riots in France last year? Or did you only hear that "youths" were rioting?
