For your princess you can have them make wands:
1) Small diamiter wooden dowell
2) Paint
3) Glitter
4) Foam Stars
5) Streamers
Paint the wooden dowells, add glitter, attach the streamers and star to the end.

You can get craft foam from Michael's and the kids can decorate princess crowns and pirate hats with glitter glue or foam cut outs. You can also get foam treasure chests that they can decorate. One thing my girls enjoy is making a picture frame and then having a photo of them and their friends that were at the party-it's a nice party favor. Take the picture first and print them off while the make the frames. Have Fun!

For the Princess part, have the girls make crowns. You can get crowns made of craft foam for the kids to decorate, or you can cut crown shapes from posterboard and let the kids decorate them. Have plastic jewels, feathers, lace, etc, available to stick or glue onto the crowns. They can dry while the kids play a game, then get them back to wear for refreshments. Help the kids not to use too much glue or they can't wear them at the party.
For the pirate part, the kids can decorate cardboard swords. Let them assemble eye patches. Have the shape cut from black posterboard, with holes punched in the two top corners. Get some black cord elastic from the fabric shop, cut it to lengths that'll go around a kid's head, and put a little white glue on the ends to make them stiff enough for a kid to poke through the punched-out holes on the patch. Let the kids string them, then have an adult tie them off on each kid's head. Letting them decorate (with markers) pirate kerchiefs would also be fun.
For either Princesses or Pirates, you can cut tons of little circles out of gold and silver paper. (Or use posterboard, spraypainted gold or silver.) Punch two holes side by side near the top of each one. Let the kids string them into "coin" necklaces.
