The ER I work in is thinking about attempting to collect $3 from Medicaid patients at the end of their visits if their visit was a non-emergency.

As long as the visit is a non-emergency, they are allowed to charge/collect $3.

I think this is a great idea! We see way too many of the same Medicaid patients on a weekly basis for minor things. Maybe this will make people think twice before using the emergency room.

What are your thoughts?

I think instead of a bill for $3, you should hand them directions to affordable health care in your area from providers that accept Medicaid patients...

yes,and raise it if they come in to often
