I like Barak Obama too, but he has to stop worrying about "playing chicken with the troops". He wants the Democrats to roll over and fund Bush's next request with no conditions.
Not very helpful to the cause of peace, is it? Pelosi is the only Democrat who is actually making things happen.

Your question is confusing, when was JFK Americas favorite person? when he was shot? prior he had two major fiascos (bay of pigs and the U2 spy plane incident), and he was worried that he would not be re-elected in 64. his poplarity was down in the 40s. Now back to the first part, Pelosi has done nothing except talk. another washington mouth piece, remember all parties have there agenda, it's just always completly opposite the other parties (simple!). Iraq is a mess for everyone, most war are, look at our own civil war, we are still suffering reprocussions from this much hated war (during it's time). Leave politic to Politicians, it was better when we didn't have 24 hr news, with constant spin and sound bits. Everyoe wants us all keyed up 24/7 about every possible issue. and they all are always complete in opposition to one another, which I cannot believe is true at all, it's for hype. so no, Pelosi will never be popular, she annoyingly rich, does not understand the average American mindset, and is a pure fork tongued politician.
as for most popular American, if that means well liked, by most people, race and sexes, how about Elvis Presley, never met anyone who hated Elvis, they may have laughed at him a little, but most remember him fondly. Maybe Walter Cronkite, I think all who listened to him, trusted him, that don't happen today. as for Presidents? Ronald Reagan won a re-election with a land slide (Clinton squeaked by, he was likable, not trustworthy, but likable, but many can't stand his shrill wife, no wonder he was out getting some). How abut Paul Harvey, the radio guy... who doesn't have to turn up the radio, to hear"the rest of the story", never heard no one bad mouth Paul Harvey. so there are my choices and my asswer. have a nice day, nuff said.

Another reason that Ms. Pelosi may become the world's favorite American is because she favors establishment of the "nuclear fuel bank".
On April 10, 2997, an article written by Carla Mariunucci appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, indicating that Ms. Pelosi and Rep. Lantos are interested in making a "diplomatic trip" to Iran.
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/04/10/BAGV9P6C0S6.DTL
Pelosi, Lantos may be interested in diplomatic trip to Iran
Furthermore, the article quoted Rep Lantos as saying that he co-sponsored legislation with Ms. Pelosi which could pass as early as May that calls for making available to all countries --including Iran -- nuclear fuel for peaceful purposes under international oversight by establishing a "nuclear fuel bank".
I believe that the legislation is:
HR 6 Clean Energy Act of 2007
http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=110_cong_bills&docid=f:h6ih.txt.pdf
Those who advocate the "nuclear fuel bank" consider that clean nuclear technology would be available to all countries. However, those who argue against the "nuclear fuel bank" point out that the uranium enrichment process (using centrifuges to separate isotopes as in the FEP at Natanz, Iran) can also be used to produce a more pure grade of uranium 235 which may be used in a nuclear bomb.

http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/09/28/opinion/edbuffett.php
http://www.goodharborreport.com/node/295
The head of the Iranian Nuclear Energy Organization, Gholam-Reza Aghazadeh, explains it thus:
The simple way is to inject 0.7% (uranium) and obtain 3.5%, right? Now, if you take this 3.5% and inject it again into the chain (of centrifuges), the result will be 20%. If you inject the 20% back into the chain, the result will be 60%. If you inject this 60%, the result will be 90%.

http://www.memritv.org/Search.asp?ACT=S6&P1=2,148&P3=4
Since Iran has uranium enrichment capabilities at its FEP (fuel enrichment plant) at Natanz, giving Iran nuclear "fuel" enriched to 3.5% might not be a good idea if Iran does have the agenda to develop a nuclear bomb.
The BBC article (listed below) describes the nuclear fuel process.

Don't see that happening. Even if the funding is cut off, Bush will not pull our troops out and more will die.

And when Iraq falls into chaos and genocide, will we have to go back again? Or will the mainstream media just not cover it, so it's out of sight, out of mind, like Rwanda and Sudan?
